Terms of Service
Effective date: September 12, 2026
Sleuthbook is a product of Long Tail Software LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company (“we”, “us”). By using Sleuthbook you agree to these terms. They’re short — please read them.
Your account
- You need an account to use Sleuthbook; it’s identified by your email address, and you sign in with a one-time code or link sent to that address. Keep access to that mailbox — it’s how we verify it’s you.
- One account per person; you’re responsible for activity under your sign-in.
- You can delete your account yourself in Settings at any time; that permanently removes your account and everything saved to it.
Using Sleuthbook
- You may use Sleuthbook for its intended purpose, personal or commercial.
- Don’t abuse it: no attempting to break into other accounts, overload the service, or use it for anything illegal.
- We may change, suspend, or discontinue Sleuthbook (or any part of it) at any time. If we ever discontinue it, we’ll give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
Your content and data
Your ledger is yours. We store it on our servers so you can reach it from any device, but we claim no ownership of it and use it only to run the service for you — see the Privacy Policy. You can export everything as CSV any time. Deleting your account removes your data from our systems permanently; export first if you want a copy.
What it costs
Nothing. Sleuthbook has no paid tier, no trial, and no checkout — we never ask you for a payment method and there is nothing here to buy. If that ever changes we’ll say so on the site and update these terms first; it will never apply retroactively to something you already have.
No warranty
Sleuthbook is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don’t guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Totals and reports are computed from what you logged — verify anything important before relying on it. Sleuthbook does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Long Tail Software LLC’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of Sleuthbook is limited to $10. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
Changes
If these terms change, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Continuing to use Sleuthbook after a change means you accept the new terms.
